MANGALORE, JAN. 22. The 23rd "Prathistamahotsava" of Sri Mahaganapathi Temple, Ashoknagar, Urva Stores, will be held with traditional fervour and gaiety. Special pujas and rituals will be held for three days from Saturday, including the "1,008 Narikela Mahaganayaga", on the temple premises. The secretary of the Mahaganapathi Seva Trust, Sridhar Maniyani M., told presspersons here that the "Mahaganayaga" would be performed at an estimated cost of Rs. 3 lakh. Special pujas would be offered on Saturday morning followed by the "Rangapuja" to Goddess Durga. This would be followed by a cultural programme by Pushkala Kumar Tonse and troupe. "Trikala puja" would be performed on Monday. The seer of Sri Kshetra Kolya, Ramananda Swamiji, would deliver benedictions, he said. The psychiatrist from Shimoga, K.A. Ashok Pai, would preside over the function. The Mayor, K. Diwakar, the former Mayor, M. Shashidhar Hegde, the Chief Executive Officer of the Dakshina Kannada Zilla Panchayat, H.G. Shivananda Murthy, and the Managing Trustee of the Bajpe Adyapady Sri Adinateshwara Temple, Narayana Udupa, would participate. The mahaganayaga would be held on Tuesday at a specially prepared "yaga kunda" between 6 a.m. and noon.
