VISAKHAPATNAM, JAN. 22. The Director-General of Police, S.R. Sukumara, has asked Maitri Sangham members to play an active role in policing. Speaking after inaugurating an apartment complex constructed for policemen at a cost of Rs. 3 crores at Allipuram on Wednesday, Mr. Sukumara, while underlining the need for community policing, said that sangham members could help contain eve-teasing and even regulate traffic. The complex was built by the AP Police Housing Corporation. He complimented Maitri Sangham members for foiling a robbery bid at Chipurapalle in Vizianagaram district on Monday last.
