Held for murder
The Crime Branch received a tip-off that Anish Khan, who along with his woman accomplice, Shabana and others, had hired a Toyota Qualis from Shahdara for Aligarh in November 2002, killed its driver and disposed of the vehicle in Nepal, would come to the Capital. Accordingly, the police laid a trap and arrested the accused while he was entering Delhi. During interrogation, Anish confessed to his involvement in the murder-cum-dacoity case registered at Seelampur police station.
Stabbed to death
According to the police, Ram Chandra, a labourer living at Prem Nagar in Patel Nagar, was shifting his jhuggi when a group of young men came to his shanty around 4 p.m. An altercation ensued between them following which he was stabbed. The assailants then fled the scene. Ram Chandra was taken to Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. A case of murder has been registered at Patel Nagar police station and further investigations are on.
Auto thief arrested
The accused, Sanjay, was arrested at Raghubir Nagar. During interrogation, he confessed to his involvement in at least four cases of auto-lifting. He disclosed that he along with his accomplices used to steal mostly new vehicles. The police have launched a hunt for his accomplices and are trying to trace other stolen vehicles.
Fake e-mail
Since the e-mail sender, who had identified himself as an I.P.S. officer, Rakesh Chhabra, appears to have good knowledge about the functioning of the CBI, the officials suspect that he could well be a part of bigger racket into procurement of examination papers of premier institution. A CBI official said the provisions of law pertaining to cyber crime could also be added to the case, as the culprit had misused the free services provided in the internet to create a website "cbinic.zzn.com" - a name similar to that of the CBI portal - to send the vicious mail.
