Directive on conduct of school fete

By Our Staff Reporter

KOCHI, JAN. 23. A Division Bench of the Kerala High Court observed that it would give effective and meaningful directive to the State Government on the conduct of the school youth festivals.

The Bench comprising Justice Cyriac Joseph and Justice K. Padmanabhan Nair made the observation while admitting a writ appeal filed by one of the contestants in the State School Youth Festival, Karthika, came up before the court. The appeal was filed against the single judge's order refusing to give a directive for permitting the student to participate in the Keralanadanam item in the youth festival.

The court said that it intended to issue a directive in view of certain defects/deficiencies in the school youth festival manual and the reported irregularities in the conduct of the youth festival. The court also made it clear that it would be open to any person interested in the issue to implead in the case and place on record relevant material.

The petition had been posted for further directive on January 19.
