VIJAYAWADA, JAN. 23. The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) president, N. Chandrababu Naidu, can at the most boast about achieving lopsided development, inflation of prices and high corruption, said the Congress MP and party's election observer, V. Narayana Swamy. Speaking to reporters here on Friday, Mr. Swamy said the State Government made no effort to pursue the pending irrigation projects though two major regions -- Rayalaseema and Telangana -- were reeling under the impact of drought. Comparing Andhra Pradesh with Karnataka, he said the neighbouring State had earmarked Rs. 30,000 crores for completing pending irrigation projects and taking up new ones. Farmers in Karnataka were able to raise crops even though the monsoon had failed and drought like conditions prevailed. "There is no comprehensive plan from the State Government to complete pending projects and start new ones," he said.
