DA arrears this year

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, JAN. 23 . The Government proposes to sanction the remaining 10 per cent of the dearness allowance due to the Government employees this year itself.

The Finance Minister, K. Sankaranarayanan, who announced this in his budget speech today said the three instalments which fell due on July 1, 2002, January 1, 2003, and July 1, 2003, would be allowed to the employees along with their salary for September and December, 2004, and March 2005, respectively.

The State pensioners would also be allowed the increase in the same manner. The arrears of the employees would be credited in the provident fund and that of the pensioners disbursed in instalments.

The financial commitment for clearing the DA would come to Rs. 812.80 crores. The Minister also announced a new Group Personal Accident Insurance Scheme for Government employees.
