MYSORE, JAN. 23. The controversy over Kuvempu's poem, which has been adopted as Nada Geethe by the State Government, continues as the Akhila Bharata Madhwa Mahamandala has decided to stage a hunger strike on Tuesday. Krishnadas Puranik, convenor of the organisation, said at a press conference here on Friday that the protest would be held in front of the Kote Anjaneyaswami Temple. All Brahmin organisations had been asked to participate in the protest. He said the organisation would urge the Government to include the name of Madhwacharya in the Nada Geethe. The organisation criticised Kuvempu's son, Poornachandra Tejaswi, for allegedly denigrating Madhwacharya and hurting the sensibilities of the saint's followers. He alleged that the former Vice-Chancellor of the University of Mysore, Dejegow, had insulted the Madhwas. G. Madhusoodhan, MLC, said Brahmins would not protest in the manner some people did against Mr. Punaroor.
