AIPJD meeting to decide on tie-ups

HASSAN, JAN. 23. The All-India Progressive Janata Dal (AIPJD) will decide on an alliance with like-minded political parties and the formation of an anti-Congress front at a meeting in Bangalore on January 30. At the meeting, the AIPJD will discuss issues related to an alliance with political parties at the Centre and in the State, the party leader, H.N. Nanje Gowda, has said.

Addressing a press conference here on Friday, he said that a meeting of a nine-member committee formed by the party for forging a pre-poll alliance on the basis of a common minimum programme would be held before January 30 and a report on prospects for an alliance submitted. The committee had discussed pre-poll alliance with leaders of both the factions of the Karnataka Rajya Raitha Sangha, Bahujan Samajwadi Party, and Kannada organisations, he added.
