BANGALORE, JAN. 23. Posing as "buyers" police arrested three persons who were allegedly attempting to sell stolen "Panchaloha" idols at Hunasemaranahalli on Bellary Road on Friday. The police gave the names of the arrested persons as Rasool (30) , Nageshwara Reddy (29), and Mohammed Kasim (43). They seized a Nataraja and Ashtalakshmi idols.
Illicit liquor seized
The City Crime Branch police arrested five persons allegedly involved in manufacture and sale of illicit liquor in Rajarajeshwari Nagar. It is alleged that the accused used to sell the illicit liquor after pasting the labels of popular brands on the bottles. The names of the arrested persons were given as Sudheen (33) and Kotreshi (22) of Hubli, Manikanta (20) and Anil (18) of Honnavar, Uttara Kannada district, and Raju (18) of Channagiri, Davangere district.
Held on cheating charge
The Vivek Nagar police on Friday arrested Syed Fakruddin (36) from the Electronic City for allegedly cheating businessmen by using credit cards that had been discarded. The police said that the accused used to attach the damaged CanCards sent by customers for cancellation through post to Canara Bank. These cards were used for purchasing clothing and jewellery at shops on Commercial Street, Wilson Garden, and other places. The police seized gold ornaments worth Rs. 7 lakh from the accused.
