Tiruchi
By Our Staff Reporter
TIRUCHI, JAN.24. It was a prayer for world peace and universal brotherhood, with a difference. S. Nagarajan, the general secretary of the Rethinagiriswarar Anmika Valarchi Kazhagam at Nangavaram in Karur district, offered his prayer at the Rock Fort temple here recently by rolling up and down the 471 steps of the temple. A few members of the Kazhagam followed him reciting verses from the `Asthika virutham.' The `angapradakshnam,' which commenced at 10.25 a.m., concluded by 11.35 a.m. Addressing mediapersons later, Mr. Nagarajan said the main objective of his prayer was to invoke the blessings of the Almighty for universal prosperity and elimination of terrorism and extremism and caste-based differences. He claimed he had been offering prayers at the Rock Fort temple since 1996 except for two years. He had been making similar worship at the Rathinagiriswarar temple at Ayyar Malai in Karur district for the past 19 years. He had made similar effort at Palani and Viralimalai also. He has planned to make a similar venture at Tirupathi.
