KOLKATA, JAN. 24. Chandigarh caused the biggest upset of the day as it defeated last year's runner-up Karnataka and topped Group B in the boys' section of the 30th National junior volleyball championship at Baidyabati on Saturday. Chandigarh had four wins to its credit while Karnataka was second with three wins and a loss in the seven-team group.
Boys: Group A: Bengal bt MP 3-0; MP bt Delhi 3-0; Bengal bt Mizoram 3-0; AP bt Kerala 3-0. Group B: Goa bt Chhattisgarh 3-0; HP bt Assam 3-1; Chandigarh bt Karnataka 3-0; Chandigarh w/o Goa; Orissa bt Assam 3-1; Karnataka w/o Goa; Chandigarh bt HP 3-0. Group C: Haryana bt Gujarat 3-0; TN bt J & K 3-0; TN bt Jharkhand 3-0; Manipur bt Gujarat 3-0. Group D: Pondicherry bt Tripura 3-1; UP bt Bihar 3-0; Punjab bt Rajasthan 3-2; UP bt Maharashtra 3-0; Rajasthan bt Pondicherry 3-0; Punjab bt Bihar 3-1.
