Victim of dacoity recuperating

By Our Staff Correspondent

BIJAPUR, JAN. 24. Vandana Bagali, who was admitted to the BLDE Association's Medical College Hospital here for the head injury she suffered in the dacoity on Friday, is recuperating now.

She was brought to the hospital unconscious. However, she is yet to recover from shock.

Her son, Rohan, who was a witness to the incident in which his father, grandfather, and grandmother were murdered, is still in trauma.

He locked up himself and his sister, Shruddha, in a room and escaped from the attack. J.R. Patil, Vandana's father, said his daughter and grandchildren should be given police protection

Sources said circumstantial evidence did not support the theory of dacoity.

There were clues that the three persons were murdered not just for money.

It was yet to be ascertained if the assailants had taken away valuables from the house. They had searched the entire house except a bedroom where Rohan and Shruddha locked up themselves.

Prakash Bagali, who was murdered along with his father, B.H. Bagali, and mother, Mahadevi, was a civil contractor and had executed many works under the Upper Krishna Project. Besides, he was running some business along with his father, sources added.

The Superintendent of Police, Pankaj Kumar Thakur, told The Hindu that the police had some vital clues and were confident of solving the case.
