NEW DELHI, JAN 24 .The Kala Shree, Kala Bhushan and other awards for Fine and Performing Arts were presented here today to about 650 child artists, winners of the literary and creativity contests of the Nehru Bal Mela organised in November 2003. The recipient of the Kala Bhushan Award - Tanika Gandotra of Modern School, who has received three consecutive Kala Shree Awards- was presented with a shield and certificate for her outstanding performance. Besides her, four other students -- Gaurav Kumar (below 8 years) of Bal Bharti Public School, Nodia; Apoorva Sehgal (age group 9 to 12 years) of APJ School, Faridabad, Monia Chopra (age group 13 to 18 years) of St. Thomas School and Aditi Aggarwal (age group 13 to 18 years) of Bal Bharati Public School, Noida -received the Kala Shree Award, 2003 (for outstanding performance in painting). The Delhi Lt. Governor's Trophy for the best performance in Bal Mela Competition 2003 was presented to the Blue Bells Model Sr. Secondary School, Sector - 4, Gurgaon. The school topped with eight first prizes, three-second prizes, and one-third prize in various creativity/bal mela competitions. The highlight of the function was the announcements made by principal of the Universal Public School, Preet Vihar, Maya Gupta and secretary of the DAV college Managing Committee T.R. Gupta to provide admission in their schools for the students of the NBS Bal Vikas Vidyalayas for continued education up to Senior Secondary.
