Grant for children's park

NEW DELHI JAN.24 . The Union State Minister, Vijay Goel, has sanctioned Rs. 41- lakh grant for the development of a five-acre children park at Netaji Subhash Park of Jama Masjid, on the lines of India Gate's children park.

Mr. Goel today inaugurated the development work for the park, which would be located just in front of the historical Jama Masjid. The park would have different kinds of swings for children, a museum comprising things of children's interest and an amphitheatre.

Republic Day celebrated

NEW DELHI JAN.24 . The Rohini branch of Delhi Public School organised a function on Friday to celebrate Republic Day. Speaking on the occasion, the school principal, Rita Sen, urged the gathering to contribute to the cause of country's development rather than pondering over what the country had given to them.

The eminent retina surgeon, B. Patnaik, was the chief guest and another surgeon, Rajinder Kalsi, was the guest of honour at the function.

Dr. Patnaik told the students about the importance of scientific temper and said they should nurture it to take the country to greater heights. A dance presentation on "A Tribute to Our Flag" marked the culmination of the function.

Annual function


NEW DELHI JAN.24 . Sachdeva Public School organised its annual prize distribution function at Pitampura in West Delhi today.

The school chairman, S.K. Sachdeva, was the chief guest. According to a press release, students displayed their aerobics skills and performed yoga. The school principal, Kiran Gambhir, appreciated their performance.

Water supply at low pressure

NEW DELHI JAN.24 . Water supply to Singhalpur in Nangloi Phase-II and nearby areas would be affected due to the annual flushing of over head tank/underground tank /booster pumping station on January 27. The 1040 Janta Flats and Shivaji Enclave would also get water at low pressure on January 27 and 28.

According to Delhi Jal Board, water will be available at low pressure from January 27 to 29 at Hindu Rao Hospital, Civil Lines, Subzi Mandi, Chandni Chawk, Red Fort, Darya Ganj, Moti Gate, Kashmere Gate, Naya Bazar, St. Stephen's Hospital, Tirath Ram Hospital, Paschim Vihar, Madipur and Jwala Heri.

DJB officials have advised residents of these areas to store sufficient quantity of water in advance as per their requirement. However, they can also avail the facility of water tankers by dialling at telephone Nos. 25942281(Nangloi), 25193140 (West Zone), 27700789 (Holambi Kalan), 23814338 (Chandrawal), 25274679 and (Paschim Vihar).

Fostering patriotism

NEW DELHI JAN.24 . Vidya Bhawan Cooperative Educational Multi-purpose Society, Vidya Bhawan Mahavidyalaya, Senior Secondary School and Progress Public School, today organised a joint-function on the eve of Republic Day celebrations.

According to the Society's founder and president, Pushpa Devi, the aim of the function was to foster patriotism among the masses, especially students, teachers and guardians.

The Congress MLA, Tajdar Babar, hosted the national flag on the occasion and presided over the function. One of the former students of Vidya Bhawan, Vinod Kapoor, donated Rs. 2,500 to the student's funds.
