Partly cloudy sky forecast

NEW DELHI, JAN. 24. The weatherman has forecast yet another foggy morning in the Capital with a partly cloudy sky later in the day on Sunday. While the fog will remain till forenoon, the minimum temperature is expected to fall further to hover around 7 degrees Celsius.

The maximum and minimum temperatures recorded at Safdarjung on Saturday were 16.7 and 9.9 degree Celsius, while Palam recorded 16.2 and 9.4 degrees Celsius respectively.

Safdarjung recorded a maximum humidity of 97 per cent and minimum of 65 per cent, while in Palam, the maximum humidity was 98 per cent and the minimum was 76 per cent.

Boy abducted, rescued

A two-and-a-half-year-old boy, who had been abducted from Kotwali here on Friday, was rescued from the clutches of the abductor by the North Delhi police the same day. The accused has been arrested.

According to the police, Amna Khatune, a resident of Indira Colony Pusta, lodged a complaint alleging that his son, Munna, had been abducted by her neighbour, Vinod. She said on Friday she went to meet her husband, Ram Murty Yadav, who is currently lodged in Tihar under the Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (NDPS). Her two sons, Munna and Raju stayed back.

She returned at night to find that Munna was missing. Raju told her that their neighbour, Vinod Yadav, had come in her absence and given him Rs. 10 to buy some toy from the market. Raju returned from the market and found Vinod and Munna missing. Acting on the complaint, the police registered a case and launched a hunt for Vinod. He was finally traced to Nangli Dairy at Najafgarh. The police arrested him and handed over the boy to his mother.

During interrogation, Vinod disclosed that he abducted the boy to put pressure on Amna to marry her.

Pickpockets held

Two persons, who were allegedly into pick pocketing, were arrested from Bara Hindu Rao in North Delhi on Friday.

The accused, Harish and Ashok, are residents of Nabi Karim. They allegedly flicked the wallet of a cyclist, Pawan Nayak, and were fleeing when constable Inder arrested them with the help of a passerby. The wallet contained Rs. 510. The police have registered a case and are investigating their other involvements.

Award for IGIA

. The Indira Gandhi International Airport has been conferred with the `National Tourism Award' for providing user-friendly facilities and an improved airport ambience to its users.

The Union Tourism Minister, Jagmohan, gave away the award to the IGI Director, P.S. Nair, on Friday. The IGI Airport was chosen for the award for providing an upgraded service to visitors including new trolleys, collect call facility, wireless internet, more money exchange counters, and for establishing shops inside the premises under "Airport Improvement Initiatives" scheme.
