HYDERABAD, JAN. 24. The National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) has sanctioned a loan assistance of Rs. 218.04 crores to Andhra Pradesh Government under Rural Infrastructure Development Fund (RIFD-IX) for implementing soil and moisture conservation projects and laying of roads in the tribal areas at an estimated cost of Rs. 234.98 crores. According to a NABARD press release, the projects sanctioned include soil and moisture conservation projects in 847 water stress mandals spread over 22 districts with a loan assistance of Rs.190.30 crores and 60 roads in 13 districts with a loan assistance of Rs. 27.74 crores. The soil and moisture conservation projects will treat an area of 3,67,890 hectare and facilitate improvement in ground water availability on sustainable basis thereby drought-proofing the State. Similarly, the road projects will provide connectivity to 515 villages and 109 marketing centres located in the remote tribal areas of nine ITDA sub-divisions.
