VELLORE, JAN. 25. The superintendent of the central prison, Vellore, G. Ramachandran, on Thursday distributed certificates to 30 prisoners who completed six-month certificate courses in computing (CIC) and food and nutrition (CFN) at the Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) sub-centre functioning on the prison premises. Mr. Ramachandran said 144 prisoners had so far received education at the IGNOU centre. R. Rajeswari, Headmistress, Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Katpadi, said the IGNOU centre provided printed textbooks to students and conducted contact classes for them.
