Three LeT militants held

By Our Staff Reporter

NEW DELHI, JAN. 25. The Delhi Police's Special Cell today arrested three Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) militants from Laxmi Nagar in East Delhi. Three kg of high explosives, detonators, timers, rocket-propelled grenades and foreign currency were seized from them and a hunt has been launched for more LeT suspects.

The Additional Commissioner of Police (Special Cell), Karnal Singh, said around six weeks ago, intelligence agencies had tipped off the police about the presence of LeT militants. Investigations revealed that some of the militants, who were planning to create disturbances tomorrow, were living in a Laxmi Nagar house.A team raided the hideout around 5 a.m. today and arrested the three. Enquiries revealed that the terrorists had shifted here only a few days ago. The large cache of explosives and ammunition seized suggests they were planning a major strike.

Mr. Singh said the militants disclosed that they belonged to the LeT and were sent to disrupt the Republic Day celebrations. They had been directed to wait for some other militants, who were supposed to join them today and plan the next move. Special Cell sleuths have launched a massive hunt for the other militants.
