KASARAGOD, JAN. 25 . Sporadic incidents of arson were reported today from parts of the district which witnessed group clashes last week, sparking tension in the area, the police said. An unidentified group of people set on fire a chicken stall at Olayathadukka near here in the wee hours in which nearly 250 chicken perished, torched a cycle shop and a stationery shop in the area. A milk booth under construction was partially burnt down in the locality, the police said. In yet another incident, a hotel was set on fire at Deli, they said adding that personal enmity was said to be the motive behind the act. Meanwhile, the police were carrying out intensified raids in parts of the district to nab those involved in the arson. No arrests have been made so far in this connection. The police said the situation was ``very much under control''. Trouble broke out on January 22 night as participants of a temple procession resorted to bursting crackers at Eriyal, to which a group of people belonging to another community took objection, leading to the groups hurling stones at each other. Later, the mob set on fire a private bus and five two-wheelers on the Kasaragod-Mangalore National Highway and damaged four shops.--PTI
