BANGALORE, JAN. 25. The Railway Budget for 2004-05 will have proposals on several long-distance trains from the State, including a Mysore-Bangalore-Hubli express, the Union Minister of State for Railways, Basanagouda R. Patil Yatnal, has said. Speaking after flagging off the Yeswanthpur-Salem fast passenger here on Sunday, he said the express train would be introduced soon, as there was demand for it. The focus of the budget would be on long-distance and night trains, he said. The Bangalore-Bijapur Express, originally scheduled for launch on Monday, would now be flagged off in another 10 days as additional coaches had to be added to it. A Rs. 12-crore proposal to construct a proper second entrance from the Okalipuram side at the Bangalore City Railway Station was also included in the budget and it was likely to be considered, Mr. Patil said. Mahesh Kumar, Bangalore Divisional Railway Manager, said two major projects of the South Western Railway zone would be commissioned in the next 12 days. Work on these projectshad almost been completed, he added.The Yeshwanthpur-Salem Fast Passenger will run via Yelahanka, Byappanahalli, Hosur and Dharamapuri. After the opening of the Yeswanthpur-Byappanahalli section, it will run via Hebbal and Banaswadi.
