Misty morning forecast

NEW DELHI JAN. 25. The cold conditions are likely to persist on Monday with the weatherman forecasting a mist and fog laden morning followed by an overcast sky later in the day. The minimum temperature will rise marginally and is expected to remain around 8 degrees Celsius.

The maximum and minimum temperatures recorded at Safdarjung on Sunday were 18.1 and 8 degrees Celsius, while Palam recorded 17.5 and 7.8 degrees Celsius respectively.

Safdarjung recorded a maximum humidity of 97 per cent and minimum of 64 per cent, while in Palam, the maximum humidity was 100 per cent and the minimum was 57 per cent.

Fatally stabbed

NEW DELHI JAN. 25. A 28-year-old labourer was stabbed to death by a pan shop owner following an altercation over loose change in the Patel Nagar area of West Delhi last night.

The police said the victim, Ramesh, a resdient of Pandav Nagar, had gone to the shop of Harish at around 10-30 p.m. There was a heated argument between the two over the payment of the sum following which Harish stabbed Ramesh with a pair of scissors.

Vehicle robbed

NEW DELHI JAN. 25. A private taxi driver was stabbed by two passengers and robbed of his vehicle in the Punjabi Bagh area of West Delhi last evening.

The police said two youths had hired the Maruti 800 (HR-26-2845) taxi of Anil (29), a resident of Colony Road, Gurgaon, for going to Anand Vihar Terminal. However, on they way they attacked the driver with knives and then forced him out of the vehicle near Hans Raj Model School in Punjabi Bagh, before fleeing with it.

Found hanging

NEW DELHI JAN. 25. A 30-year-old gardener was found hanging from a tree in a vacant plot in the Sangam Vihar area of South Delhi this afternoon.

The police suspect that the deceased, Raj Kumar, who lived in a rented room nearby and was a native of Rae Bareilly, may have committed suicide.

Minors held

NEW DELHI JAN. 25. Three minors, who were allegedly involved in cases of auto-lifting, have been arrested from Hari Nagar in West Delhi. At their instance, the police have recovered seven stolen vehicles.

Liquor seized

NEW DELHI JAN. 25. A huge quantity of illicit liquor was seized at Paschim Vihar in West Delhi on Friday. A person has been arrested in this connection.

According to the police, the Special Staff had information that a person carrying illicit liquor in an auto-rickshaw would come to Punjabi Bagh from Bahadurgarh. The police laid a trap and arrested him. They recovered 32 cartons of country-made liquor.
