NEW DELHI, JAN. 25. The Delhi Traffic Police has advised people to avoid the route of the Republic Day Parade 2004 which would start at 9 a.m. from Vijay Chowk and move to Red Fort Ground through Rajpath, India Gate, Tilak Marg, W-Point, Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg, Subhash Marg and Red Fort Chowk. Due to the Parade it said entry into the area bound by Dalhousie Road, Tyagraj Marg, K. Kamraj Marg, Maulana Azad Road, Akbar Road, C-Hexagon, Ashoka Road, Dr. Rajendra Prasad Road, Red Cross Road and Church Road would be restricted and vehicles will not be allowed to ply on Rajpath till the closure of the function. Further after 8-45 a.m., it said the movement across Rajpath on Rafi marg, Janpath, Man Singh Road and C Hexagon will be closed for all categories of labelled and unlabelled vehicles. The Traffic Police said a "controlled area'' has also been designated within the area bounded by Kautilya Marg, Kamal Ataturk Marg, Aurangzeb Road, Q Point, Humayun road, Subhramaniam Bharati Marg, Mathura Road, Bhagwan Dass Road, Ferozeshah Road, Windsor Place roundabout, Ashoka Road, Baba Kharak Singh Marg, Mother Teresa Crescent and Sardar Patel Marg up to Kautilya Marg in which entry of unlabelled vehicles, except those of bonafide residents, will be prohibited. In view of the restrictions on movement of traffic along the route of the Parade as well as on the roads around it, the police has advised that people take entire Ring Road to reach New Delhi, North and Central Delhi; and Aurobindo Chowk-Prithvi Raj Road-South End Road-Subrahmaniam Bharti Marg-Mathura Road-Bhairon Road and Ring Road to reach East, North and Central Delhi. Likewise, it has advised that Aurobindo Chowk, Safdarjang, Kamal Ataturk Marg, Panchsheel, Kautilya Marg, S.P. Marg, Mother Teresa Convent and Mandir Marg be taken to reach North and New Delhi; and for travel from north and north-east to New Delhi and Central Delhi, the ISBT Flyover, Boulevard Marg, Rani Jhansi Marg and Jhandewalan be taken to reach DBG Road, Panchkuian Road and Mandir Marg.
