Rain likely in Tamil Nadu

CHENNAI, JAN. 27. Isolated rainfall occurred over Tamil Nadu, coastal Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. Dry weather prevailed over Rayalaseema, Kerala, Lakshadweep and Karnataka.

The chief amounts of rainfall recorded in cms. are: Chennai, Madurai, Poondi (Tiruvallur dt.) and Khammam 3 each, Kovalam (Kancheepuram dt.), Cuddalore, Gingee (Villupuram dt.) and Chennai Airport 2 each, Tambaram, Palayamkottai, Sholinghur (Vellore dt.), Repallie and Sathenapalli (both Guntur dt.) and Anakapalli (Visakhapatnam dt.) 1 each.

The minimum temperature fell appreciably at one or two places over North Kerala and South interior Karnataka, fell at one or two places over North interior Tamil Nadu, coastal Karnataka and Telengana and changed little elsewhere over the region.

Belgaum Airport recorded the lowest minimum temperature of 12 degree Celsius in the plains of the region.

FORECAST (Valid until Thursday morning): Rain or thundershowers are likely to occur at a few places over coastal Andhra Pradesh.

Isolated rain or thundershowers are likely to occur over Tamil Nadu, Pondicherry, Telangana, Rayalaseema and southern parts of Lakshadweep.

Mainly dry weather will prevail over Kerala, northern parts of Lakshadweep and Karnataka.
