Congress leaders clash
By Our Staff Reporter
ANANTAPUR,
JAN. 27.
Constituency-wise leaders' meetings of the Congress held here today by the District Congress Committee in the presence of the APCC coordinator, Ponnala Laxmaiah, turned into a clash of castes. Leaders of a particular community, with which the party is identified generally in the State, abused a Youth Congress leader belonging to another community, leading to chaos.
The meetings were convened to discuss the matter of facing the Assembly and Lok Sabha elections. Apart from aspirants of the party ticket, senior leaders, block presidents, mandal convenors, mandal parishad presidents, ZPTC members, MPTC members, sarpanches and leaders of associate organisations were present.
The DCC president, A. Venkatarami Reddy, and the PCC coordinator, Ponnala Laxmaiah, remained spectators to the clash.
The meetings on the Kalyanadurg and Gorantla constituencies ended in vertical division of opinion among the leaders.
