Arrangements in place for Surya Jayanti

SRIKAKULAM, JAN. 27. Arrangements are in place for the annual Surya Jayanti celebrated on Ratha Sapthami day at the Sri Suryanarayana Swamy temple at Arasavalli here.

This year's event is considered auspicious because Ratha Sapthami falls in the star of Aswini, denoting horse and thereby power, says the head priest of the temple, Ippili Sankara Sarma. It also indicates a severe summer and copious rain during the rainy season. For better coordination, electricity, medical and health and those in charge of sanitation will be stationed together at one place, the DSP, S Ramachandrayya, who supervised the arrangements, said.

It would enable them to react quickly to any contingency. "We are ready to receive any number of devotees,'' the Executive Officer, M Padmalochana, said.
