Azad to kickstart Congress campaign in Chittoor

By Our Special Correspondent

TIRUPATI. Jan. 27. The All-India Congress Committee(AICC)'s Andhra Pradesh In-charge, Ghulam Nabi Azad, would launch the party's three-day campaign in the politically-sensitive Chittoor district tomorrow.

He would be addressing election meetings tomorrow at four major constituencies of the eastern Chittoor district viz; Nagari, Puttur, Srikalahasti and Tirupati.

Arriving at 11 a.m. from Chennai at Nagari the border town represented in the dissolved house by the party strongman and former Minister, R. Chenga Reddy, Azad along with party heavyweights like the Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president, D. Srinivas, the former Congress Legislature Party (CLP) leader, Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, the former PCC leader, M. Sathyanarayana Rao and others would then reach Puttur, the constituency of the PCC's official spokesperson, Gali Muddukrishnama Naidu.

In fact the constituency's sitting Telugu Desam Party(TDP) MLA, R. Rajasekhar Reddy.

The Congress caravan would then proceed to another key segment-- Srikalahasti represented by the district Minister, B. Gopalakrishna Reddy. Congress has cast an eye on this VIP segment and rumour has it that it might even field the CM's estranged brother, Ramamurthy Naidu, as he has a fairly good population of his kith and kin in the Srikalahasti segment.

Mr. Azad address a public meeting at Tirupati.

The Congress despite its own infighting in the constituency is gunning for this seat this time taking advantage of an almost similar situation in the town TDP unit too.

Mr. Azad would start his second day's campaign with an election meeting in CM's native constituency, Chandragiri, where the TDP. Azad would also address a meeting at Pakala, the political-hub of Chandragiri segment.

Next on his schedule is Piler, the constituency of the DCC president and the Congress campaign manager, P. Ramachandra Reddy to be followed by meetings at Vayalpadu and Madanapalle.

On the third and the concluding day, Azad would cover Punganur, Palamaner and finally the Congress' bull's eye-- Kuppam held by the Chief Minister, Chandrababu Naidu, where it is trying to make a dent at least this time to end its ignominy of successive defeats after it became Naidu's well-nurtured seat for the last three terms and since the inception of the TDP for that matter.
