By Our Staff Reporter
ANANTAPUR, JAN. 27. The district headquarters town of Anantapur has turned into a police web, in the backdrop of the People's War(PW) call for district bandh on January 28 and 29, with massive security arrangements in place for the Telugu Desam Party (TDP)'s praja sadassu on Wednesday. The PW on the other hand is also leaving no stone unturned for spoiling the TDP sadassu. When contacted the Superintendent of Police, Anil Kumar, told The Hindu that in addition to the police officers available within the district they had drawn three additional SPs from Chittoor and Kurnool for overseeing the bandobust. In all, 20 DSPs, 70 CIs, 170 SIs, 400 ASIs/HCs, 1,700 police constables and 400 homeguards would be deployed for the bandobust and security duties. Besides, the special police teams of intelligence, screening teams, greyhounds teams, nine platoons of armed reserve police and one company of APSP had also been on duty for the occasion.
