VIJAYAWADA, JAN. 27. An alert gangman prevented derailment of a passenger train and major disaster near the Satyanarayanapuram station located in the heart of the city on Tuesday. Gangman, P Eleesa, was inspecting the track when he found a bit of the railing missing between Durgapuram and the S.N.Puram station minutes before the Bhimavaram-Guntur(482) passenger came that way. Without wasting time he stopped the train and prevented a derailment. The piece of railing used to weld two rails together came off creating a gap. A train travel at the usual speed would have led to derailment.
