MUMBAI, JAN. 27. Despite her deteriorating health, the Narmada Bachao Andolan leader, Medha Patkar, today decided to continue her hunger strike outside Mantralaya till tomorrow's State Cabinet meeting when it is scheduled to discuss her demands pertaining to the rehabilitation of people displaced by the Sardar Sarovar Dam. The State Government had assured her that it would discuss the issue in the Cabinet meeting, along with the tabling of the Action Taken Report for approval, Ms. Patkar told reporters on the fifth day of the hunger strike. Her next course of action would be decided after the Cabinet meeting. Though the Maharashtra Government has agreed to rehabilitate the affected people, she said: "The NBA wants a clarification on the Maharashtra Government's rehabilitation plan and stand on the proposed increase of the dam height."
