V-Set to train teachers in government schools

By Our Staff Reporter

BANGALORE, JAN. 27. Vishwa Seva Educational Trust or V-Set, an organisation that aims at "promoting community values in educational institutions" and tap students' potential will be formally launched here on February 8.

The Chief Executive Officer of V-Set, N. Subramaniam, told presspersons here on Tuesday that the organisation had approval from the Education Department to conduct training programmes for teachers in government schools "to integrate values with every subject that is taught". At present, V-Set reaches 150 schools in the State and plans to train at least two teachers in every upper primary and high schools in various districts of the State in 2004-05 and 2005-06.

Mr. Subramaniam said V-Set drew inspiration from the theme, "universal love and service", advocated by Swami Ramdas of Anandashram in Kerala.

The organisation was active in 65 schools throughout the country and its approach did not dilute the importance of academics or increase the workload of parents, teachers, and students.

The formal launch is being held at the ADA Rangamandira. For details, call 31832440.
