Boy killed in mishap

In a hit-and-run case, a 16-month-old boy, Ranjit Kumar Yadav, was killed after a four-wheeler knocked him down while he was loitering outside an apartment building at Gaddiannaram. The vehicle driver fled after the incident, the Saroornagar police said.

Succumbs to burns

A housewife, Rekha Bai (18), of Mangalhat, who was set afire allegedly by her husband and in-laws on Monday, succumbed to burns on Tuesday at the Osmania General Hospital while undergoing treatment. The victim, in the dying declaration, reportedly accused her husband, Surender, and in-laws of setting her ablaze after dousing her in kerosene. A resident of Jali Hanuman area, the victim was married to Surender in April 2003. He allegedly began demanding additional dowry soon after marriage, the Mangalhat police said.

Man commits suicide

A 35-year-old man, B. Venkateswar Rao, reportedly committed suicide by jumping in front of a running train between Bibinagar and Ghatkesar railway stations on Monday.

The victim was a resident of Hyder Basthi in Secunderabad. Investigations revealed that he resorted to the extreme step due to financial problems, the Secunderabad Railway Police said.
