Isolated rain likely over Tamil Nadu

CHENNAI, JAN. 28. Isolated rainfall occurred over Tamil Nadu, coastal Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. Dry weather prevailed over Rayalaseema, Kerala, Lakshadweep and Karnataka.

The chief amounts of rainfall recorded in cms. are:

Gannavaram 4, Poondi (Thiruvallur dt.), Sathankulam (Tuticorin dt.), Mettupalayam and Sulur (both Coimbatore dt.) and Ongole 3 each, Chennai and Red Hills (Thiruvallur dt.) 2 each and Thamaraipakkam (Thiruvallur dt.), Sankarankoil (Thirunelveli dt.), Thiruchendur (Tuticorin dt.) and Jagityal (Karimnagar dt.) 1 each.

The minimum temperature rose appreciably at a few places over interior Karnataka and at one or two places over Rayalaseema, rose at one or two places over interior Tamil Nadu, rest interior Karnataka, fell at one or two places over south Tamil Nadu and changed little elsewhere over the region.

They were appreciably above normal at a few places over Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and at one or two places over south interior Karnataka, above normal at one or two places over rest Andhra Pradesh, rest Tamil Nadu, rest interior Karnataka, below normal at one or two places over coastal Karnataka and were generally normal over the rest of the region.

Belgaum Airport recorded the lowest minimum temperature of 16 degree Celsius in the plains of the region.
