UPASI to take up online trading in tea

COIMBATORE: The United Planters' Association of Southern India (UPASI) would be the first producer body in the country to take up online trading in tea. B. R. Bansali, Chairman, UPASI Commodity Exchange Ltd, told presspersons that trading, initially in tea, would commence by the end of February. Later, it could be extended to other plantation items. To start with, Coimbatore would be the hub, followed by Kochi. As it would be "internet - based" trading, it could be done from anywhere. — Our Special Correspondent.
