DAVANGERE, JAN. 28. The Superintendent of Police, Malini Krishnamurthy, said here on Wednesday that a departmental inquiry had been ordered into a scandal involving policemen. The accused, including the sub-inspector of Harihar, are alleged to have issued fake receipts for fines collected from traffic and other offenders in the town. When the subject was broached at a press conference, she said the inquiry was going on and, based on the report by the investigators, action would be taken.
