Pondicherry
By Our Staff Reporter
PONDICHERRY, JAN. 28. A delegation of the Pondicherry CPI today presented a memorandum to the Lt. Governor, N.N. Jha, urging him to intervene and initiate action against those who had indulged in grabbing of private property. Alleging that the grabbing was resorted to by culprits with the connivance of some higher officers in the Police Department, the memorandum also referred to an enquiry conducted into the allegations of property grabbing by the Additional District Magistrate, G. Ragesh Chandra. Instead of taking action against the offenders, including some police officers, the government had only effected shuffling of the officers. This action only gave rise to an impression that the Government was trying to suppress the truth in the matter.
