Pondicherry
By Our Staff Reporter
PONDICHERRY, JAN. 28. The Pradesh Congress Committee president, V. Narayanasamy, MP, today said he would meet the All-India Congress Committee president, Sonia Gandhi, to seek her nod for the party to contest the Lok Sabha election here. He would lead a delegation, comprising the Chief Minister, N. Rangasamy, the Lok Sabha member, M. O. H. Farook, and the former Chief Minister, V. Vaithilingam, MLA, to Delhi tomorrow. Talking to newsmen here, Narayanasamy said already a copy of a resolution adopted unanimously yesterday at a committee meeting was sent to her. He was confident that the seat would be clinched for the party, as in nine out of 12 Lok Sabha polls held so far since Pondicherry became part of Indian Union in 1962, the Congress held the seat. He said neither the PCC nor the AICC was consulted before the Pondicherry seat was allotted to the PMK. He was confident that the Congress would get the seat.
