At Waltair, the maximum temperature was 28.0 degree Celsius and minimum was 21.5 degree Celsius on Wednesday. Rainfall at 8.30 a.m. was 0.5 mm, while humidity at 8.30 a.m. was 77 per cent and at 5.30 p.m. was also 77 per cent.

At Airport, the maximum and minimum temperatures were 29.4 degree Celsius and 20.1 degree Celsius respectively. Rainfall at 8.30 a.m. was 0.4 mm, while humidity at 8.30 a.m. was 68 per cent and at 5.30 p.m. was 72 per cent.

At Dolphin's Nose, the maximum and minimum temperatures were 27.3 degree Celsius and 19.3 degree Celsius respectively. Rainfall at 8.30 a.m. was 32.8 mm, while humidity at 8.30 a.m. was 83 per cent.

Holiday for meat stalls

Slaughter houses, and meat, beef and chicken stalls will remain closed on Friday to mark the Mahatma Gandhi Martyrdom Day, according to the Chief Medical Officer of Health of the Municipal Corporation, M.S. Raju. Action will be taken against those stalls violating the closure order.

New ADRM of Waltair

P.C. Nayak took over as the Additional Divisional Railway Manager (Waltair) of the East Coast Railway on Tuesday. Prior to this assignment he had served as the Senior Divisional Electrical Engioneer (operations) at Khurda Road. He had also undergone training in human resources development in Wollongong, Australia.

Talfest 2004

The three-day inter-collegiate `AGL Talfest 2004' will begin at the AGL Degree and Post-Graduate College on Thursday to promote personality development among students. According to the college principal, S. Anjaneyulu, there is no entry fee for participating college students.

Yagam begins

The `Shatchandi Rudrayagam' being performed under the supervision of Swami Swaropnandendra Saraswati of Sri Sarada Peetham, commenced in Chinamushidiwada on Wednesday. Being conducted by 30 Vedic pundits from Mutturu village in Karnataka, it will concluded on Sunday.

Floral tributes paid to jawan

Floral tributes were paid to the Army jawan, Naik Sagar Srinivasa Rao, at the INS Dega air station on arrival of his mortal remains on Wednesday. Belonging to 11th Madras Regiment, he was deployed in the northern glaciers near Leh in Jammu and Kashmir and while travelling on a difficult terrain, he slipped to his death on January 23.
