COIMBATORE, JAN. 28. The Department of Animal Husbandry will conduct a free anti-rabies vaccination camp for pet dogs in Tirupur on January 30 and in Coimbatore on January 31. A press release from the Regional Joint Director of Animal Husbandry, T.N. Palanivelu, said the camp at Tirupur would be held at the Municipal Cattle Shed in Karuvampalayam from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. In Coimbatore, it would be held at the Veterinary Polyclinic from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The release said while pedigree breeds were regularly vaccinated against rabies, there were other breeds that were not vaccinated. These posed the risk of passing rabies on to humans while biting them. As a ban on killing dogs was in force, people should make use of the camp to eliminate the risk of rabies, it said.
