Chef killed in hit-and-run case

BANGALORE, JAN. 28. A drive back home after work ended in a tragedy for Shivu (27), a chef, when he was crushed under the wheels of a light commercial vehicle in a hit-and-run case at Pulavanahalli of Nelamangala taluk on Bangalore-Pune National Highway on Wednesday.

Yellappa Rathod and Shivu, both chefs in a city hotel, were returning home to Somanhalli in Tiptur taluk on a motorcycle when they were hit by a light commercial vehicle from behind. Shivu was thrown off the motorcycle and died.

When the commercial vehicle sped away, Shivu's face was crushed under its rear wheels, police said. Rathod escaped with minor injuries.

Nelamangala Police are on the look out for the vehicle.
