BANGALORE, JAN. 28. The Tilak Nagar police have arrested B.L. Narasimhamurthy (43) of J.P. Nagar for allegedly embezzling Rs. 1.45 crore from a cooperative society by fabricating loan documents. According to police, the accused was the President of the Commercial Credit Cooperative Society in Jayanagar. He had created loan documents with forged signatures between 1997 and 2003. Fake entries were made in the account books showing the loan amount. The money was allegedly used for construction of his house in J.P. Nagar and a hostel in Anekal, the police said. The police have attached his house, seized two computers, a van, and a motorcycle. Killed in mishap: R. Manjunath of Vijayanagar died due to injuries sustained in an accident at the Service Road in Vijayanagar Police Station limits on Tuesday. Police said Manjunath was a physical education teacher at a private school. He was knocked down by a commercial vehicle that was backing up. He died at a private hospital. The Vijayanagar police have arrested the driver, Vijay Kumar, and seized the vehicle. Body found: The body of an autorickshaw driver, Siddalinga (25), with severed hands and legs was found in a burial ground behind the Ambedkar Medical College in Nagawara on Wednesday. The police suspect that Siddalinga was murdered. Labourer attacked: Diwakar (24), a labourer from Kodihalli, was hit with iron rods by miscreants in Indiranagar Police Station limits on Wednesday. The police said the victim was attacked from behind when he was waiting for a bus. The father of a woman, who committed suicide on Monday, has today lodged a complaint against his son-in-law before Banashankari police alleging that her daughter died unable to withstand dowry harassment. According to police, the complainant, C. Radhakrishna Naidu, resident of Tirupati, has alleged that his daughter, Shailaja (23), committed suicide in their house in Katriguppe main road because of harassment by her husband, Ramu (25). The police are in search of Ramu. Jewellery stolen: Two persons allegedly stole gold ornaments, two mobile phones, and Rs. 6,500 in cash from a couple in Subramanyapura on Tuesday night. According to police, when Ganesh (30) and Sindhu (25) were talking to each other, the miscreants teased them and then robbed them. VCDs seized: The Jnanabharati Police on Sunday arrested seven persons who were allegedly selling pirated video compact discs (VCD) in their shops and seized disks worth Rs. 2.7 lakh. The police gave the names of the accused as Kumar, Madhusudhan, B.S. Vijay Kumar, Prasanna Kumar, Narasimha Raju, Srinivas, and Sridhar. Several films of Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and English had been pirated, the police said. Arrested: The Kailasipalyam police have arrested Velu (19) and Shankar (19), both from Vinobha Nagar, on charges of stealing building material, and recovered material worth Rs. 25,000 from them. The accused, along with two others, were involved in two theft cases, police said. The City Market police have arrested Riyaz Pasha (22) of M.S. Palya on charges of stealing mobile phones and unlocked two-wheelers. They have recovered a motorcycle and 11 mobile phones.
