HYDERABAD, JAN. 28. The pass percentage of students in schools run by the Rangareddy zilla parishad was more than that of private schools in the district, contrary to the notion that only private schools offer quality education. This was stated by the District Educational Officer (DEO), A.N. Sudarshan Rao, at the general body meeting of the Rangareddy zilla parishad held here on Wednesday. He said the ZP schools registered a pass percentage of 75, as compared to 67 per cent by private schools. This issue came up when the agenda item pertaining to the Education Department came up for discussion. The Saroornagar Zilla Parishad Territorial Constituency (ZPTC) member, Ch. Narasimha Reddy, charged that despite several reminders, the DEO was not giving a break-up of pass percentages registered by different schools in the district. Mr. Sudarshan Rao asserted that Government schools were better than private ones and pointed out that several private schools were employing unqualified persons as teachers.
