NEW DELHI, JAN. 28. A 28-year-old man, who allegedly disposed of the vehicles stolen by the notorious Anil Sehgal-Vinod Bhanwra gang, was arrested along with his accomplice from Faridabad in Haryana on January 23. At their instance, the police have recovered 10 vehicles so far. According to the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Crime Branch, Deependra Pathak, the Crime Branch had earlier arrested Anil Sehgal and his partner Vinod for their alleged involvement in auto-lifting cases. During interrogation, the duo disclosed that they used to supply the stolen vehicles to one Raghubir Singh, a resident of Gurdaspur in Punjab. Investigations revealed that Raghubir used to dispose of the vehicles in Uttaranchal, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Bengal, Assam and other places. Acting on a tip-off that Raghubir would pass by Rohtak Road on January 23, the Crime Branch laid a trap and arrested him along with his accomplice, Amar Singh. At their instance, the police recovered three Toyota Qualis, a Maruti Zen, an Tata Indica, four Tata Sumo and a motorcycle. During interrogation, Raghubir disclosed that he used to replace the original chassis numbers of the vehicles with fake ones and prepared forged documents to sell them off. The Crime Branch is trying to recover other stolen vehicles disposed of by him.
