Letters to the Editor
Sir, Kindly refer to a news item under the title `Women panel to seek help' published on January 13, 2003, in which it was stated that the National Commission for Women was unaware of the incident of the Bulandshahar dowry harassment case. The NCW's initial response referring to sources at the Commission was also quoted in the paper. In this regard, it may be mentioned that due care should be taken before publishing such remarks, as it may adversely affect the image of the Commission, which would neither promote nor advance the mandate of upholding women's rights. In future, I hope that The Hindu will give women's issues a place of importance and pride.
Poornima Advani,
