AIDWA calls for defeat of TDP-BJP combine

By Our Staff Reporter

HYDERABAD, JAN. 29. Terming the Telugu Desam Party the main `palanquin bearer' of the Bharatiya Janata Party, the All India Democratic Women's Association (AIDWA) president, Subhasini Ali, has called upon people to defeat the TDP in the coming elections and thus topple the NDA Government at the Centre.

Addressing women activists of the CPI(M) here on Thursday, Ms. Ali and the AIDWA general secretary, Brinda Karat, exhorted them to make all efforts to defeat the TDP-BJP combine in the coming elections.

On the issues which directly affect the millions of poor and working women, the Government had not only neglected them, but also introduced policies to make life even more difficult, the speakers alleged. Wages, particularly in the agricultural and informal sectors, were dropping while the Public Distribution System was being dismantled denying women and children of much-needed nutrition.
