Oracle signs MoU with Elcot
CHENNAI: Oracle India Private Limited on Thursday signed a memorandum of understanding with the Electronics Corporation of Tamil Nadu Limited (Elcot) to facilitate electronic execution of varied state government works. Vivek Harinarain, Secretary to Government and Chairman Elcot, hoped that Oracle would help the government use its resources efficiently and reduce operational cost.
The tie-up with Oracle, he said, would help to e-governance the state matters. Simply put, it meant anyone could access information through the Internet. Payment of property tax, water bill, power charge and the like - all could be done through the Internet once all documents were computerised through the e-governance initiative of the State. The Managing Director of Oracle India, Shekhar Dasgupta, said his company was already having an `Oracle-HP E-Governance centre' in Delhi. Our Staff Correspondent
