CHENNAI, JAN. 29. Grand Master Koneru Humpy of Bank of Baroda posted a hard fought win over former national champion Ponnuswamy Konguvel in the tenth round to share the lead in the 1st Orient Flight School International Open chess tournament played at Hotel President here on Thursday. After the two Russian overnight leaders Sergei Iskusnyh and Alexandre Fominyh decided to split the point in just six moves, Ziaur Rahman of Bangladesh scored an attacking 27-move victory over the top seed Pavel Smirnov of Russia to join the leaders at eight points. Meanwhile, the Chief Arbiter Manuel Aaron issued a warning to the leader GM Alexandre Fominyh of Russia for his interfering in a round nine game involving his wife Elena Sidorova and B.S. Sivanandan.
