KOTTAYAM, JAN. 30. The Catholicos Baselius Mar Thomas Mathews II, Head of the Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church and the senior-most pontiff in the Christendom, celebrated his 90th birthday at a simple function organised at the Catholicate Palace here today. The day began with a Holy Qurbana at the palace chapel which was followed by a public meeting at the auditorium. The Catholicate-designate, Thomas Mar Themotheos, presided over and J. Alexander, Minister in Karnataka Cabinet, inaugurated the function. Fr. T.J. Joshua, and others spoke on the occasion.
