THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, JAN. 30. Kerala was awaiting a decision from the Centre on the JPC report on soft drink companies, after which the Government would take stringent steps against them if the soft drinks were found to contain pesticide residues, the Health Minister, P. Sankaran, said today. Replying to a submission by A. Neelalohitadasan Nadar (JD-S) in the Assembly, he said the tests conducted on 76 soft drinks samples in health laboratories in the State had not given any negative results. But it was known that tests conducted at Bangalore had found pesticide residues in them. He said the Kozhikode-based Centre for Water Research, Development and Management had also been asked to submit a report on the complaint on the Coca-Cola plant at Plachimada, as per the direction of the Kerala High Court.--PTI
