KARIMNAGAR, JAN. 31. Internal bickerings among Telugu Desam Party leaders over party ticket for the Assembly elections even before the finalisation of official candidates have become a cause of concern for the party in the district. Earlier, the differences were restricted within the party, but now ticket aspirants were making statements in public. In a majority of the Assembly segments, second rung TDP leaders were opposing the candidature of former MLAs and defeated candidates for the coming polls. They were openly demanding the candidature of new entrants into the party. The former Zilla Parishad chairman, G. Rajesham Goud, the Jagtial Municipal Chairman, G.R. Desai, the Bar Association president, M. Janardhan Reddy, and the district Telugu Rythu president, M. Jitender Rao, addressed a press meet at Jagtial and opposed the candidature of the Andhra Pradesh Khadi Board Chairman, L. Ramana. They demanded that a fresh candidate be fielded from the Jagtial segment. The leaders alleged that Mr. Ramana, who was party convener for Jagtial, was neglecting seniors and taking unilateral decisions. In the Medaram constituency, party leaders opposed the candidature of the former MLAs -- Mathangi Narsaiah and Mallam Mallesham -- in the elections. Local leaders were organising secret meetings and chalking out strategies for fielding a new candidate. The situation was no different in Buggaram, Choppadandi, Manthani, Metpally and Peddapalli segments. The Dharmapuri temple committee chairman, Ranga Ashok, the ZPTC member, Laxminarayana, and the senior leader, J. Surya Rao, were opposing the candidature of the Sri Rajarajeshwara Swamy Devasthanam temple chairman, Shikari Vishwanatham, for the Buggaram segment. In the Manthani segment, the senior leader, C. Rami Reddy, the former market committee chairman, Srinivas Reddy, the Mandal Praja Parishad chief, Jagan Mohan Rao, and others were opposing the candidature of the Ramagundam Municipal Chairman, S. Satyanarayana. Mr. Satyanarayana had recently joined the TDP from the Congress. In the Choppadandi segment the district Grandhalaya Samstha Chairman, Bonala Rajesham, the former MLA, N. Ram Kishan, the senior leaders - K. Chandrashekhar Rao and K. Vidyasagar Reddy - were opposing the fielding of the retired SRSP Chief Engineer, Sana Maruthi, from the segment.
