BANGALORE, JAN. 31. Air Deccan will launch direct trunk-route flights connecting Bangalore with New Delhi and Mumbai from July. The return fare to New Delhi will be Rs. 9,500 and that to Mumbai is expected to be Rs. 5,000, about half the rate offered by major carriers. According to Air Deccan officials, the airline will lease two A-320 aircraft from Airbus Industrie, Toulouse, France for the services. The airline is also buying four new A-320 aircraft which will be delivered by December. Following this, it is expected to launch more long-haul routes. Currently, the airline operates regional routes with ATR aircraft. The routes to be added later in the year include Hyderabad-Mumbai, Chennai-New Delhi, Chennai-Mumbai, and Kolkata-New Delhi. "We want to penetrate the innermost regions and then launch the trunk routes. Our intention is to make air travel affordable to the common man," Gopinath, Air Deccan Managing Director, told The Hindu .
